Elisha - Living in the Supernatural
"The Miracle of the Bread"
II Kings 4:38-44

INTRODUCTION: There was a famine in the land. Famines create hard- ships, and hardships challenge the souls of all men. In difficult times, God shows up in glorious ways.


I. Elisha Teaches at the School of the Prophets

1. Home grown stew for supper
2. Ignorance regarding bad food
3. Eating healthy
4. Eat unto the Lord
5. A miracle in the famine

II. Another Miracle of God's Provision

1. A blessing during the famine "the first fruits"
Exodus 23:19 "The first of the first fruits of thy land you shall
bring into the house of the Lord thy God."
2. 20 barley loaves and some ears of corn
3. A parallel of Jesus feeding the 5000 John 6:14
4. A powerful word executed in simple faith

III. A Famine of the Word of God Amos 8:11-12

1. Understanding in the natural realm the patterns of weather or judgment of God.
2. Understanding the poison in the stew
3. Understanding the multiplied bread of life to all who hear
4. A famine in the pulpits and pews must be averted by the
supernatural

CONCLUSION: Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteous- ness, for they shall be filled.

DISCUSSION

1. There is a lot of talk today about eating healthy. Discuss this with I Corinthians 6:13 keeping in mind that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

2. In John 4:8 the disciples were sent to buy food. Why didn't Jesus perform a "food miracle" for the woman at the well?

3. What are the outcomes of Amos' famine of the Word of God in our day?
