INTRODUCTION: Last week we saw Elisha seeking after a double
portion of Elijah's spirit. It was granted to him. As the power (mantle) of God now rests upon Elisha, he performs his second miracle by healing the waters of Jericho.


I. Dealing with the other Prophets

1. The dynamic of prophet/pastoral relationships is challenging

2. Go, do your own thing, if you will (vs. 17)

A. Wasting time on frivolous man made programs

II. Jericho -The City Fathers discuss development (vs. 19)

1. "City of palm trees" (like Miami, Florida)
2. Every city has its problems and delightfulness

A. Jamestown - Our City
Economy - Many low income jobs but low housing
costs
Education - Good education schools but much brain drain
Climate - Cold winters but lots of water
Natural Resources - Good farm lands but too many taxes

3. Healing the waters (vs. 20)

A. Finding the source of the contamination - a spring
B. A bag of salt
C. An awesome miracle
